Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) has compiled guidelines on using our logo and branding assets once written consent has been provided (see legal information at bottom of this page and request consent here). Please read through the rules for each type of logo before incorporating it into your graphic materials.

Our full-color logos may be used when other digital assets or printed materials are also presented in full color.

Single-Color Logos

Single-color logos may be used when a preexisting color scheme limits the colors that can be used. The examples here are black but may be changed to a color more appropriate to the encompassing material it is being placed in, provided it complies with our color guidelines.

Colors

Logo color should always be light on a dark background and dark on a light background. In cases where other full-color logos are placed in the same setting (e.g., a sponsorship section or similar grouping), the full-color logo should be used. In cases where single-color logos are used, or only one color is available for use (single-color printing), a single-color variant of the logo should be used.

Spacing

All FPF logos should be placed with a comfortable margin to avoid a cluttered layout. At minimum, any logo with text should have at least half a letter’s height of margin. Logos without text should have a third its smallest dimension as a margin.
